In the early 1900ís the Vedovato Family had a very successful tile business in Italy. Conditions in Italy deteriorated both economically and politically so they were forced to move the operation to Germany. They soon realized the situation in Germany was no better and decided to give the United States a try. In 1910 they made the long journey to America setting up shop in New York City and Vedovato Brothers was born. One by one the original Vedovato Brothers retired leaving the business to the youngest  brother Ermino. Ermino often joked saying he was always broke because he had to keep buying out the family members. Never the less, the company thrived and was passed on to his son Leon.
Always living in Westchester County Leon decide to open up a store in Scarsdale on a piece of property given to him by his father-in law.  In March 1960 Leon, his wife Lena and son Dick opened Westchester Tile & Marble Corporation. Sadly a couple of years after the opening Leon passed away at the age of 50. The third generation was now running both businesses and in 1967 added on to the buildingdoubeling the warehouse space and added a sate of the art showroom.
